After spending the day at the Chickasaw Cultural Center in Sulphur we drove back in to Norman and ate at Qdoba. We were pretty hungry from the drive and I was hoping that Qdoba didn’t screw things up for us since I have been saying to Miriam for months that Qdoba is the better fast casual experience for me and we had such a poor experience at Chipolte’s earlier.
When we walked up to place our order the staff were all friendly and helpful. They helped both of us make our decision, and especially helpful for her since it was her first time there. (They asked).
Miriam decided on their tortilla soup with sour cream, pico de gallo, and shredded beef. She also got a side of guacamole and salsa verde. I kind of wish she got a burrito so she could compare item to item, but I think she might of not wanted to take her chances again.
I wanted their grilled veggie burrito with the whole wheat tortilla, with brown rice, black beans, roasted corn, salsa verde, and habanero salsas. I also wanted guacamole and lettuce inside.
Miriam really liked her soup. She thought it was very tasty and she finished it all.
My burrito was also good and filling. I liked all the flavors and didn’t have a complaint at all about the food. I also like that they don’t wrap their burritos in aluminum foil as well. It isn’t good to be picking foil out of your teeth when you eat a burrito with a fork and knife.
Miriam was also fascinated with their pop machine. It is the kind where there are 100 different flavors in a small compact machine.
Overall our experience here was great. It was night and day compared to Chipotle. Miriam says that Qdoba saved her Mexican experience in the US. For this I am glad. I just wish we would have been able to eat at a traditional sit down Mexican restaurant while she was here. Not saying that this fast casual restaurant was good, just that she would have had better. If you are in the University North Park area head to Qdoba, not Chipolte’s. You will be much happier.
