Tammy, her kids and I were on the way to my house to help me move a refrigerator from her grandma’s old house to mine and we were all hungry so I stopped by China Wonder on the way to pick up some take out for all of us. I placed my order and patiently waited while the cook woked up the food. When everything was finally ready I grabbed the heavy bag and headed back to my car to drive to my house.
After we unloaded the refrigerator we unpacked all the food and started sorting it all out.
Tammy wanted combo fried rice but I completely forgot and instead ordered her some combo lo mein instead. I also ordered beef and broccoli for her as I know she really likes it. China Wonder’s version of beef and broccoli was really good she thought. Except for my mix up she didn’t complain about her food at all. All her meat was cooked nice for her and she liked the flavors of the sauce and noodles of the lo mein.
She also served some of the lo mein for her youngest two and they both really liked it as well, and you know kids if they don’t like something they will let you know one way or another. They ate most of their food and they ate it pretty quickly..
Her middle boy ordered sesame chicken and combo lo mein. All of which he also liked a lot. He ate most of it before getting full. He thought everything had good flavor. He was like me and needed soy sauce for his lo mein.
I ordered vegetable spring rolls, kung pow tofu and vegetable lo mein. I ordered my tofu extra spicy. The person who took my order had absolutely no problem with getting my order right and didn’t have to ask the cook if he could make it. Something that surprised me a bit with some of my previous history of ordering at Chinese. When I go back I am going to have to order orange tofu and see how that goes.
The spring rolls were pretty good. They weren’t made in house, they were the typical frozen stuff that is served everywhere else. I forgot to get some duck sauce but I had hoisin sauce in my refrigerator, and the rolls were really good with it.
My tofu was cooked just the way I liked it. They were nice and firm on the outside and soft on the inside. The sauce itself was tasty and you could taste the heat of the chilli peppers, it could have been just a bit more spicy for me though but I am crazy like that.
The kung po was so good I almost forgot about my lo mein and was almost done eating when I saw it staring at me in it’s container. I got my chopsticks and made room on my plate and put them to work scooping out the lo mein. The lo mein was cooked really good as well and it was flavorful. I did add some soy sauce to it because I like my lo mein almost swimming in it.
We got a lot of food for what we paid for and ended up boxing up at least half of it to eat later. China Wonder I am glad I decided to try you out. If I want good Chinese food I know where to go in the future. The restaurant does have tables and chairs so you can eat it there, but like most other places there is no service, you order your food and when it is ready you pick it up and take it to your table and eat out of togo containers or styrofoam plates.
