Full Moon Sushi

Today after seeing a client I decided to have some sushi for lunch. I headed on over to Full Moon Sushi and Bistro to do just that. I have never been here before and decided to give them a try.

I walked in and stood there at the entrance for about 5 minutes before I was greeted and advised to have a seat wherever. I was greeted by my server and ordered some jasmine tea with ice. The tea was not the typical tea as it was organic. It was pretty good.

I looked at what they had on the menu and was going to order the veggie roll until I saw the Futomaki. I didn’t recognize the last two ingredients on it, but it had a nice (V) next to it so I assumed it was veggie, and decided to order it. The Futomaki had asparagus, cucumber, carrot, avocado, yamagobo (pickled burdock root), tamago (which I didn’t know what it was at the time. I should have asked, because after I got home and researched the ingredients, I found out that this was egg ugh!)

Shortly after I placed my order the server placed some edamame in front of me that was sprinkled with some seasonings. The edamame was pretty good, but I wish that the string would have been removed by the staff, it made for some tough eating. I had most of it down when the sushi was served.

The sushi was pretty good, it didn’t taste of egg, which if I had known or tasted I would have gotten the other one. It was a nice combination of crunchy and creamy. I dipped the sushi in my mixture of soy sauce and wasabi, and even had one without, and didn’t have that gross nasty egg flavor, and the ingredients didn’t look like egg either. I hope that it was left out of my roll but is doubtful. They didn’t skimp on the wasabi which was good as well.

I guess egg is technically vegetarian, I just never expected it to be in sushi, this is the first time I have seen it in a sushi roll. Next time I know to ask for it out or just order something that I am used to.

Overall my experience was good once I was acknowledged. The waiter and the rest of the staff that was there seemed nice. The food was good, but for me it is hard to mess up sushi, I just need to ask what the ingredients are if I don’t recognize them, I assumed they were just Japanese veggies that were rolled in there. If I am on Main and in the mood for sushi only I will probably be back, but more than likely will be at my favorite haunt Thai Delight.
